Kepa Arrizabalaga Set for Season-Long Loan to Bournemouth (Multiple Reports)
Chelsea’s Spanish goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, is on the verge of completing a loan transfer to Bournemouth. The deal has been confirmed, with medical test at Bournemouth’s home ground, marking the latest chapter in Kepa’s career.
The 29-year-old shot-stopper will join Bournemouth on a season-long loan, with the arrangement set to last until July of next year. Despite the transfer, Kepa’s contract with Chelsea has been extended by one more year, now running until June 2026. Importantly, there is no buy option or obligation for Bournemouth to make the move permanent, making it a straightforward loan deal agreed upon by all parties involved.
Kepa is no stranger to Bournemouth’s head coach, Andoni Iraola, having worked together at Athletic Bilbao earlier in their careers. The reunion offers Kepa an opportunity for regular first-team football after falling out of favour at Chelsea, where he will struggle to cement a starting spot in today’s squad.
Kepa will now compete with Bournemouth’s current first-choice goalkeeper, Neto, who previously played for Barcelona. While Neto holds the number one jersey at the moment, Kepa’s arrival will undoubtedly raise the competition for the starting role, which could benefit Bournemouth as they strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
